Did you go to the game? or many games? Arthur clearly has a terrific touch if you've seen him live many times. Last night there were several when playing it tight down the line with Cress. And he brought down a cross terrifically in the 2nd half.

Id love to see the link to 'lost the ball through bad ball control' though i didnt realise that was a thing! Be interesting to see what else is covered? Id say he loses the ball far more to him being thick as shit and choosing shit decisions than his dribbling or control. Like last night when we burst forward he had options, didnt choose any and just ran into their bloke and lost the ball. Stats might say shit dribble, whereas he should of chose one of his options before that.

Thought Arthur had a decent game considering his injury and lack of games last 18 months and that the twat behind me kept shouting abuse at him and thinking he was Zouma FFS.

The only one who concerns me is Vlasic for 30m?

Hold up, Did Pep manage Sagna and Clichy?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread - Carabao Cup
errr thats exactly what i'm saying......if you fix the positional stuff and decision making then there is some LB there. If anyone can then probs be Pep.

Look what Pep did with Clichy and Sagna when he first arrived, remember when they'd be playing CM when they had the ball and everyone was amazed and had no idea how to counteract it. He clearly has a track record of getting the best out of full backs.

Im saying if he could do that with Arthur he'd be so vastly improved from what we see now. Their tight intricate passing and boxes.......its made for him.

"Technically he is superb, his touch is probably the best in the squad"

I questioned that. Just to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me, I look up his STATS for last nights game. For a player who's meant to be technically superb and has the best touch in the squad, he was dispossessed the most and lost the ball through bad ball control the most in our team.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread - Carabao Cup
He's full of intricate touches and he's quick, but his positional sense in particular when he's around our 18 yard box is atrocious.

He's a fucking car crash.

As you rarely go games Sold i dont expect you to understand that, plus we all know you think he is toilet. But when you see him live you appreciate his touches and control and his dribbling round players. There was several glimpses last night despite him hardly kicking a ball this season.

Technically he is superb, his touch is probably the best in the squad. He has great feet and is good at passing. He is certainly a better footballer technically than Man city's LB last night Zinchenko

What is clearly his weakness is his positioning and decision making. Something that the best coach in the world would improve for him. If he does that alot, then there is a hell of a left back in there. He made Walker better, he made Cancelo better, he has Zinchenko and Delph playing there at some points. Arthur has great potential, its easier to teach positioning than technical ability. Id find it interesting to see what Pep could do with him.

Cmon lets debate...

Rossal, after your comment about Arthur playing under Pep, I can't take a word you say seriously mate.

I doubt Pep would be able to fix the cunts crumpled knee as well.

Don’t be too harsh on him, Sold.

He’s clearly not all the ticket.

Good on the ball? really? did he have a shot or create much? thought he should of run in behind much more.....he just looks like Fornals when he first joined. Theres no real impact from him, and thats not just last night thats near enough every game he has featured this season

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread - Carabao Cup
Vlasic is a concern, no doubt about that. The worst thing for me is that 30 mil, or whatever it was, could have gone on a striker instead. Just have to hope he is like Fornals and comes good in time. He must have been thoroughly scouted and Moyes must have been sure about him. It would be tough to take if we have got burnt again with expensive foreign imports after Yarm, Anderson and Haller, albeit they were not Moyes' signings of course.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread - Carabao Cup
Rossal, what game were you watching?

He was good on the ball and switched roles with Yarma well, his hold up play was good and interlinked with Lanzini.

I only noted 1 misplaced pass early on.

I've mugged off Johnson on here before, but this season he's vastly improved and looks physically stronger, his awareness last night caught my eye with a few times him covering round the back to mark a defender or make an interception. Pleasing to see.

The most imbecilic comment I’ve seen on here for a while.

Maybe let your carer proof-read your posts, Rossal?

Vlasic was pretty non effective for me, doesnt look anywhere near a £30M player from what we've seen so far

Yarmo was better, he just looks like his body is too slow for his brain

Would love to see Arthur under Pep......technically he is so good......if Pep could make him have a brain he'd be some player

Ag RM10. "When he ranting on about going loads of times Upton Park I did hear someone say "how many"

One disturbing thing after the game was some cunt threw a stone from the flats above near the corner where the two sets of fans meet up before Stratford tube.
A young fan was hit and bleeding, I heard the stewards telling the security guard from the flats what had happened and that the kid needed first aid, the security guard just stood there clueless doing nothing.

Exactly that! It's fantastic to see a young player come through the academy and make a mark on the first team. He dealt with their attacking players really well.

Noble was full of praise for him after the game as well, which was great to hear. 'In the last three games, he's become a man' or words to that effect. I agree. He's just stepped up to a new level.

Apart from the win, what I’m grinning about today is how well Noble stepped in for Rice. So we were rock-solid in defence again, also thanks to Nips suddenly taking it to a totally new level. Cresswell could express himself and everything just sort of clicked.
